Last week was the first Symetra Tour event in Mesa, AZ. It was a great introduction into the new season to see where my game is and what I need to work on to improve. I ended up shooting four over par for the event and finishing 59th.
The positives from this last week are that I made the cut and I made a lot birdies (14 total birdies)!! I am excited to see what I am capable of and what I need to improve for the next event. The areas to improve are confidence in my short game and getting back into the competition mode. My short game is really close but I just need to sharpen it up. I love what I am working on and towards and honestly believe this year is going to be something special.
This next week the Symetra Tour is in California for The Volvik Championship. The event starts February 28th through March 2nd. Follow along at http://www.symetratour.com for live scoring.
The 2014 season is approaching fast and I have finally established a schedule for my year. As of right now I have about 25 events and plus qualifying school on there. I will be starting my first event next week here in Phoenix, AZ on The Cactus Tour. I look forward to starting tournaments and competing again. My name for this season is going to be Jessi Gebhardt-White. It is going to be a great season and I hope you all follow along.
The 2013 Season has come to an end last Sunday in Daytona Beach, Florida where I missed getting my LPGA card by three strokes. Last week was Final Stage of Qualifying School, it was five rounds of golf. Overall the week it is one of the most emotional all year but I was able to work hard and give it a good run. I started out rocky with a 77 the first day but came back and shot 69, followed by 71. The fourth day I shot 74 and made the cut right on the number at three over par. The last day I needed to have a good low round, but ended up shooting 72. My mind the whole week was my ally and I feel like the way I approached this event will help me in the future.
The plan for the next year is to play on The Symetra Tour, The Cactus Tour and Monday Qualifiers for LPGA events. I look forward to spending the holidays with friends and family and take sometime off while working out for next year. But once I take sometime for my self, I look forward to working hard at my game and making next year the best ever.
For the last blog of the year I would like to say thank you to all of you. I appreciate your support throughout the year and love all the comments I receive. Check in next year for a new schedule and more blogs to follow! Thanks again for reading my blog, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
This week was an exciting week. I got myself into contention and leading for 36 holes. I have not been in that position for a long time and it was great to feel that kind of pressure. I started the tournament with a score of 68 in tough windy conditions. It was a great round and it felt awesome to score. I followed it up by a solid 73 and then the last day I shot 75. I struggled a little bit the last day but fought hard to try to stay in the tournament and take solo 2nd place. The excitement of having the lead and playing two decent rounds is great momentum. I know what I need to work on these next couple of days to get ready for the Arizona Women’s Open which will be held on November 4th- 6th at Foothills Golf Club. It feels great to be playing again in tournaments and I know that this 2nd place finish is going to only bring positive things my way!!!
The great news is that I advanced to Final Stage of Qualifying School for the LPGA!!!!!! It was a long week and I made it a lot more difficult by making it exactly on the cut line to advance. I ended up shooting 75-72-73-74=294, which put me exactly tied for 80th, and the tour was advancing 80 and ties! I got lucky that the very last girl to post a score shot the perfect number to bring the six over par players inside the cut line.
It is extremely exciting news to advance to Final Stage because now I have a shot at making my dreams of winning on the LPGA come true. Final Stage Qualifying School starts December 4th through the 8th in Daytona Beach, FL. The tournament will be held at LPGA International. I have some time to work hard on my game and get it ready. After this last week I know what I need to work on to get better. I will also be playing in the Arizona Women’s Open and maybe a few other Cactus Tour events to stay tournament ready.
As of right now I am waiting to fly back home today to see my wonderful husband that I have not seen for a month! Thanks for following a long this year!
The Symetra Tour season is finally over after last weeks Championship in Daytona Beach Florida. I finished 37th on the money list and had a fairly good year. I learned a lot about my game and how I can improve for next year. I have a lot of great things going for me in my golf game and personal life. I know next year will be a success where ever I am.
Right now I am at Second Stage of Qualifying School in Venice, FL. The first round is in the books and I shot 75. I played better in than I scored and look forward to playing the second round today at 1:15! My goal is to go out to the course and give it my all and have fun.
Thank you all for your wonderful support through out the season!
Today did not go so well! I just could not get the ball to go in the hole. It was a frustrating day with too many missed shots. I ended up shooting 77 and I am two over for the event. The one good thing is that I made the cut and will be able to go out there and work on some stuff for the last round. I know I got some great rounds in me and I am using this to prepare for the last couple of Symetra events.
August 24th, 2013
Needless to say it has been way to long since I wrote on my blog! Sorry for the big break but I feel like I needed sometime off to get my head straight. I now feel like I am in a better place than I have been in quite sometime. First off I am now a married woman!!!! It was a gorgeous wedding (hence the picture) and truly the most amazing day of my life. I have also played in a couple of Symtera Tour events that did not go that well so we can skip over those. (I was a little overwhelmed and not completely confident at the time, but after sometime off and seeing my coach, I feel like I am back on track!)
Now I am in Denver, CO playing in the HealthONE Colorado Women’s Open. Today was the first round and I shot a three under par 69. This tournament is a Pro-Am, similar to the PGA’s AT&T Pro-Am at Pebble Beach. I am playing my own ball and I have an partner as well that plays his ball and we have a team score. We ended up doing well today, shooting a 63. He is a great guy and an awesome partner to have on the course, I really got lucky to be paired with him. It was a great day for both of us, I had three birdies and the rest pars and he jumped right in a made a few great birdies of his own! We tee off tomorrow 12:30pm. Looking forward to another great round!
Thanks again everyone for your support! I’m once again sorry for the absence from the blog.
Today was the final round of the Credit Union Challenge and it was a struggle. Let me just say my putting let me down the last two days. I shot 77 today to finish tied for 60th. Not what I wanted, but there is always next time and I know I am a better player than this.
I’m excited to have the break this next week to work out some kinks. Next we head to Florida to play on some great golf courses. I’ll keep working hard and trying to reach my goal of the LPGA!!
Today was the second round of The Credit Union Challenge at The Drumblins Golf Course. It was not the day that I wanted, it was full of silly mistakes and bogeys, but I was able to finish strong. I finally allowed myself to play golf like I know how coming in. I had a couple late birdies in my round that really helped out. With Martin’s help and guidance I was able to make the cut. We will be playing tomorrow, mostly likely in a lot of rain, at 8:50am. I am excited to get back out there and play this course one last time. Follow along at The Symetra Tour, http://www.symetratour.com, for real time scoring.
